IDCO coming up with fortune tower

BHUBANESWAR: In a bid to provide ultra-modern facilities to information technology (IT) companies and IT-enabled service units in the state, the Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), a state government undertaking, is coming up with fortune towers here.

bhubaneswar: in a bid to provide ultra-modern facilities to information technology (it) companies and it-enabled service units in the state, the industrial and infrastructure development corporation (idco), a state government undertaking, is coming up with fortune towers here. idco managing director asit tripathy said the company is constructing fortune towers with the sole aim to attract it companies as well as other corporate houses.

earlier, it was to be named as cyber towers but in the wake of the slowdown in the it sector its name was changed. the estimated cost of towers would be about rs 36 crore, he said. idco has spent rs 25 crore on this project, the civil construction of which is already completed, while other works are on. the fortune towers are likely to be ready by the end of march.this is the first time such towers are under construction here, which will mainly provide plug and play facilities to it and commercial companies interested in starting operations in the state,tripathy said. the towers are divided into three parts, one part is fully reserved for the it companies and each division has 10,000 sq feet of working space. we will facilitate it companies by giving lease to them in this towers, he said.we are confident that after the construction of fortune towers, we will provide it companies all the facilities available in bangalore and hyderabad, he added. idco has approached major it companies including wipro and tata consultancy service (tcs) and has got positive responses.we are pursuing, but the final deal is yet to materialise, said b.c. majumdar, manager hrd and marketing, idco. majumdar said the fortune towers will have dedicated power feeder for uninterrupted supply, dg back up for meeting exigencies relating to disruption in power supply. besides it will also have health club, banking, business and recreation centre sas well as cafeteria and covered parking area with fire fighting arrangement. over 150 it companies operate from the state, exporting software worth over rs 200 crore. the tower will give a boost to it business in the state. orissa was among the first few states in the country which created an independent it department headed by the chief minister.
